WHAT'S YOUR WORD OF THE YEAR?

What’s your word of the year? Not a sentence or a phrase. Not two words. Just one.

It’s really a simple concept, but landing on just one word to capture your deepest intention for the year is a powerful exercise in reflection about what’s most important to you in this moment.

The mind can be a busy place and there’s no lack of self-talk – some of which may be laden with self-judgement, judgement of others, complaints, fears, what if worry and a laundry list of items for your To Do list.

Why not harness the power of the mind for good? Why not embrace a mindset of abundance (opportunity) vs. a mindset of scarcity (lacking)? Why not stand in the place of possibility and positivity?

This year, get laser-focused on what’s important to you and let that intention guide your mindset, decision-making and use of resources (time, money, energy).

And now is the perfect time to bring this practice into your business. You can do this by either supporting your workplace in becoming super clear on what’s most important for the organizational mission or by really listening to your team members about what’s most important to each of them individually.

For years, neuroscientists have said that neurons that fire together wire together. Why not wire yourself, and those around you, to be wildly optimistic and resilient?

Here are four ways to run with this idea of a Word of the Year:

1. Use it to establish a personal mantra.

2. Use it as a family to stay aligned and excited about the year ahead. It’s especially helpful as a supportive reminder when times get tough!

3. Use it in the workplace as an ice breaker exercise or to welcome a deeper, more vulnerable conversation.

4. Use it as a team to strengthen intention, actions and results!

After all, beliefs shape thoughts and feelings. And feelings shape actions and results. Bring on 2020 – after all, anything is possible if you say so! 😉
